Creative Cubism - Cover Art
What does this Artwork Represent?
This artwork is a portrayal of emotion in art. The circles on top represent open and positive emotions whereas the squares represent closed and negative emotions. The colour scheme has also been chosen accordingly. The background shapes are all the colours of the rainbow plus more, however the shades used are lighter for the circle and darker for the squares.
The cloud shows a thought and is shades of grey representing that any thought is dull without emotions. Also the fact that the cloud is in the middle of the negative and positive emotions means that every thought in your head is either negative, positive or a transition between the two.
For example, if one thinks of something from a negative perspective(starting from the squares), one thought(the cloud) could act as a transition from a negative to positive perspective and vice versa.
Considering Perspectives
This entire painting can be looked at from multiple perspectives, if one looks at the artwork from top to bottom then one can say that even if a person is open towards others, it only takes one thought to change that person into being a very confined person. On the other hand if one looks at the artwork from bottom to top then one can say that even though a person might be closed and not express themselves at first, one thought can change that and make the person more open.
How does it relate to Emotion in Art?
Since every colour brings up an emotion inside a person, every single colour used in this artwork represents an emotion in itself. The darker the colour gets, the darker those feelings get and since emotions are caused by what we feel, they're interrelated.
