pencil sketches -2
Pencil sketches are simple to make and aren't very time consuming, so most pieces I make are usually just sketches. In the last week I've been able to make quite a few pieces. Both, with reference and original. Most of my references are taken from animated Disney characters.
Below is one such sketch inspired by Disney's Moana
Apart from references, recently I've also made something original.
This artwork might be confusing at first sight. However, the meaning to it is as simple as the drawing looks. One question most people probably have is why the image is upside down, actually it's not, the image is inserted straight, its just that the artwork has been intentionally drawn upside down.
Concept:
There can be multiple explanations to this artwork once the main idea is clear. This sketch is basically divided into two parts. Not equally, portraying the inequality of life. The right side of the artwork represents the simple face of a human. And the left side appears to be a weird and scary face in comparison. This scary side depicts the mask of negativity.
Now this artwork can indicate two things, either that the mask of negativity is gradually covering the face of the ordinary human, slowly damaging them. Or that the person was initially wearing this mask, was considered unpleasant and negative, but realization struck them. And now, step by step, they are working towards becoming pure.
The one thing that is common in both these meanings is the fact that this artwork is drawn upside down. Which represents no matter if they're removing or wearing the mask, while they are in the process of changing, the whole world will seem to be upside down and nothing will make sense until they change their perspective. This artwork will simply mean what the audience wants it to mean.
