pencil sketches
Pencil sketches are one of the simplest forms of art, but that simplicity is also what makes it equally complex. There are many techniques one can use with just a pencil, combining them completes the artwork.
I realized the simplicity of pencil sketches around 2 years ago, which was when I first started to try to draw animated characters. The fact that I knew what I wanted to draw made it a lot easier for me because I didn't have to think much about it.
This is just an example of a simple sketch I made long ago. It isn't shaded, plus there are no intricate designs, but it's how I started.
Afterwards, I decided to remake something and then shade it so that it appears to be better and maybe even more appealing than the non-shaded sketches.
This did turn out to look better than the other ones, so I decided to include a little shaded part in most future sketches.
Along with referring to images for my sketches, I've also tried to make stills from real life. For instance, once I was sitting on my bed, trying to think about what to draw, then I looked up and saw a mirror, that's when I decided to draw that mirror and whatever was around it in the room.
In other words, I literally drew what was in front of me. From the huge mirror to the tiniest plug point, I drew everything I could see.
Apart from all of these, I have sketched many original pieces as well, however they are all stuck at my file in school so I wont get to reveal them soon. But on the plus side, by the next post I will have other pieces ready.
