scratch art

Even though this is probably one of the easiest sounding medium, it really isn't. Because when doing scratch art, once you scratch something, you can't really unscratch it, the mark will stay that way. This leads to this medium undoubtedly requiring the most amount of effort compared to any other art form.

I was first introduced to this medium around seven years ago, which was when I tried it out for the first time.

Ever since then I've been amazed by the concept of scratch art, specially the fact that one can't plan what to make, and just has to keep improvising and let the colors underneath decide.

Recently as well I've made a few pieces using this art form, however since it takes a lot of time, effort and patience, I haven't made that many. The scratch art that I make is mainly an outline, filled with designs of all sorts. I find making designs much easier this way, because not knowing what color is underneath opens infinite options

This is what the artwork looks like before and after the designs inside the outline are compete.

I find the beauty of this art form to be in it's permanence. Whatever tiny mark is made, will stay on forever, one can't really undo their actions unlike other art forms. The smallest line on the sheet will be filled with colors, this allows the simplest shapes to look captivating, basic designs to look twice as beautiful and the the tiniest color pop, will enhance the artwork along with its meaning.

Even though till now I've only been able to make two such art pieces. These itself took hours of patience to perfect.

Although these are decent. The one thing missing in them is a meaning. Right now, they're just plain designs with no meaning. Although the meaning will not come through the colors, whereas the colors might even change the entire meaning in the process, I want the next artwork to have a meaning. Maybe through aspects of the sheet that I can control, such as the designs or the dark areas,  the next one needs a meaning.
